The Zen Peacemakers are returning for the 21st year to the old site of the concentration camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau, in Oświęcim, Poland, for a Bearing Witness Retreat starting October 31 and ending November 4 2016. Bernie Glassman began the annual Bearing Witness Retreats in 1996, with help from Eve Marko and Andrzej Krajewski.
From 8 – 12 May 2017, we’ll come together—from different countries, cultures, and religions—in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia. From there we will proceed to Srebrenica. This retreat is organized by the Zen Peacemaker Order Europe to bear witness to ethnic conflict and war crimes and to the role of the international community.
In this retreat we will bear witness to the genocide of the American Indians beginning in the 16th century, the injustice and abuse that continue to this day, and the thievery and exploitation of their land.
On a farm, amid the beautiful natural park of La Garrotxa, zen meditation practice and Iyengar yoga, in which the delicate presence of every act during the day will be the main actor. With Michel Dubois, zen teacher, and Silvia Diaz, Iyengar yoga teacher.
How to recognize our emotions, how to welcome them and fully embrace them? Far from being obstacles to meditation and practice, emotions are the very fuel of our existence. To suppress them is to choke our own life, to solidify ourselves and to diminish our ability to genuinely communicate with others.
Roshi Frank De Waele will be leading a workshop in Barcelona to explore the Zen Peacemaker’s mission (three tenants, core values and practices). The workshop will take place at Casa de Espiritualidad San Felipe Neri, seat of the Dana Paramita Zen Sangha in Barcelona....
